Nobody Owes Anybody Anything

Igor Graf · April 2025 · 1 min read

You should go to university. A husband should earn money. A wife shouldn't cheat. Children should obey. We should respect our elders…

The Word 'Should' Is a Cage

Where do all these 'debts' come from? From traditions, expectations, and other people's fears. Your parents want you to be 'normal' — so you should. Society decided that a successful person lives a certain way — so you should. But who decided? And why did you accept it as your personal code of conduct?

The Law Is Not Absolute

If the law were absolute, it would stop everyone from wrongdoing — not just some. It comes down to choice, not the law or the level of consciousness.

Only Choice

A person does everything by choice. Even when it seems like there is no choice — that is also a choice not to notice other options. Understanding this sets you free. Not from responsibility — from the illusion of coercion.

You help because you want to — that's love. You help because you 'should' — that's prison. The difference is enormous.

Choose, love, enjoy life. — Igor Graf

Frequently Asked

What is chronic debt syndrome?

It's a state in which a person constantly feels obligated — to parents, a partner, society. It prevents making decisions based on one's own desires and destroys self-esteem.
